  • What is We’ve Got Friends (WGF)?
    We’ve Got Friends (WGF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating inclusive social experiences for teens and young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). Our goal is to create a safe and supportive space where friendships can thrive, fostering a sense of belonging and community.
  • Where is WGF located?
    Our headquarters is located at 73 S. Fullerton Ave, Montclair, NJ 07042, but we host events and programs at various locations throughout New Jersey.
  • Who can participate in WGF programs?
    Our programs are designed for teens and young adults with I/DD who are looking for meaningful social connections. We welcome individuals of all abilities and strive to create an environment where everyone feels valued and included.
  • What types of activities does WGF offer?
    We offer a variety of social opportunities, including weekly hangouts, community outings, skill-building workshops, and special events. Our programs are designed to be fun, engaging, and supportive of social development.
  • How do I sign up for WGF events?
    To register for our programming, complete the participant registration form here. If you need assistance, please contact our team for support.
  • Do I Have to Sign Up?
    All participants must sign up to hang out. In the event any hangout is canceled, all registered friends will get an email notification of the change. We also collect attendance in compliance with grants and funding we receive.
  • Are WGF programs free?
    We strive to keep our programs accessible. Many of our events are free, thanks to generous donors and sponsors. Some special programs may have a nominal fee, but we work to provide financial assistance when needed.
  • Is there support at the hangouts?
    Yes! Each hangout is overseen by qualified Site Hosts and trained volunteers who ensure that events run smoothly. They provide guidance, foster a welcoming and inclusive environment, and help participants engage in meaningful social experiences.
  • Is there food at the hangouts?
    Yes! All hangouts include a snack or a meal. Special events may vary, so we recommend checking the event details in advance. We strive to accommodate food allergies and dietary restrictions, but we encourage participants to bring their own food or snacks if they have specific needs or preferences.
  • If I want to bring snacks for caregivers at a hangout, may I?
    Yes! Caregivers are welcome to bring snacks to share, but we ask that they be nut-free to ensure the safety of all participants.
  • Do all sites have an allergy list, first aid kits, and AED machines?
    Yes, all sites are equipped with first aid kits, and Site Hosts are aware of participant allergies. AED machine availability varies by location, but we always prioritize safety.
  • Are other sites offering WGF Jr., or is it only available in Montclair?
    Currently, WGF Jr. is only offered at our Montclair location, but we are actively exploring opportunities to expand.
  • How can I volunteer with WGF?
    We welcome volunteers who are passionate about supporting our community. If you’re interested in volunteering, please complete our volunteer application form here.
  • Does WGF offer employment opportunities?

  • How can I support WGF financially?

  • Is my donation tax-deductible?
    Yes, We’ve Got Friends is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and all donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. You will receive a receipt for your records.
